In Part 2 of this 2-part series, Dr. Antonio Fierro, Dr. Nereida Antúnez-Gamón, and Dr. Nicole Florez reframe every classroom as a language-rich environment and position every educator as a teacher of language. Teachers explore the seven language systems (phonology, orthography, semantics, syntax, morphology, discourse, and pragmatics) and examine how they are embedded across all content areas. Through hands-on word study and classroom application, participants build a shared understanding of how language works, develop strategies for fostering linguistic confidence and metalinguistic awareness, and identify intentional ways to strengthen language instruction in their daily practice.
